Keller Golf Course Welcomes New Bluebirds

Keller Golf Course in Maplewood isn’t just a haven for urban golfers; it’s a haven for urban Eastern Bluebirds.

With more than 30 bluebird nestboxes, Keller has been certified an Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary by Audubon International.

It's also home to two new orphaned bluebirds that were placed in a bluebird box for wild fostering.

Bear Kills Dog in Sherburne County Backyard

A bear with three cubs wandered into the backyard of a home in Sherburne County Monday.  When they left, the homeowner's dog was dead.

Sherburne County Sheriff Joel Brott told KSTP.COM the killing happened in Livonia Township, east of Zimmerman.  Brott said bear sightings in Sherburne County are not unheard of.

Monticello's Swans are Back

Monticello's Swan Park is once again living up to its name.  Now, visitors are invited to watch the swans in person or online.

"There are anywhere from 200-1,000 trumpeter swans in Swan Park!" exclaimed a Tuesday posting on the website of the Monticello Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Wildlife Officials Concerned After Warm Weather Delays Swans

Officials from the Three Rivers Park District are raising concerns after warm weather has delayed the arrival of swans in Monticello. Due to the unusual winter this year, wildlife officials say there was been an uncommon distribution of swans which are field feeding or on open water elsewhere.
